C.A.T.I.E.
CATIE is a world renown learning institution located in Turrialba where it has been making efforts for the last 40 years to educate on the importance of sustainable agriculture in rural areas. Students from all over the world come to learn at CATIE and take part in different studies that have literally, in some cases, changed the way many look at sustainable agriculture. There are often over 200 scientists and graduate students from all over the world at CATIE working at this place of high level education.
At CATIE 75% of its projects are directed towards low-income families. More than 100 sustainable developement initiatives in 17 different countries are taking place. More than 300 scientific papers are published each year from CATIE. Catie's teachers and professors are from 25 different countries while students come from 40 different countries. The CATIE is internationally recognized for it's germplasm collections which contribute to food security at the present moment.
Here at Costa Rican Resource we often visit the botanical gardens of CATIE and offer students a glimpse into the higher edcuational institute of CATIE.
