Education Adventure

With most of our itineraries we include some of the fun activities of Costa Rica which are the zipline, rappel, and rafting, but we also like to not only take part in the adventures but make them as educational as possible. You will learn some of the basics of each adventure during your trip. Take a look at this itinerary which the kids will surely love as it is a bit more adventurous than the others.

Day 1

Arrive and stay at airport hotel (Central Valley Hotel)

Today we will meet you outside the airport and drive and have a welcome for you at your first hotel. You will meet the staff and get a lecture on what the week is going to be like. (Meals: Dinner)

Day 2

Raft the Pacuare River (Central Valley Hotel)

Today you will be on the famous Pacuare River. This is one of the top 5 rivers in the world according to National Geographic and just a great first day for adventure and scenery. It will be the students’ first experience in the rainforest. (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner)

Day 3

Drive South to Dominical area (Uvita Hotel)

Today we’ll drive 4 hours south over Costa Rica’s tallest mountain range. We will be going up to almost 12,000ft high and then making our way down to the Pacific Coast where the mountain meets the sea. We will make stops along the way explaining the different micro-climates Costa Rica has to offer. (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner)

Day 4

Enter the famous Cave for the night (Sleep in the Caverns)

Today we will begin the hike into the cave where we will spend the night. This is a nice hike of almost 2 hours and a little steep at times. We will be up early and when we arrive to our destination it will be one of the most beautiful places you have ever seen on Earth. (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner)

Day 5

Rappel Cave Falls and Hike out of Cave (Uvita Hotel town near Dominical)

Today we will do the rappels in the cave and then hike out after lunch. This is a great day of exploring the area where we will also visit pools and stand at the top of Costa Rica’s tallest waterfall which is the Diamante Falls. (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner)

Day 6

Horseback to Nauyaca Falls (Uvita Hotel)

Today we will horseback to Central America’s most beautiful waterfall. This is the famous fall of Nauyaca and we will horseback in the morning and have lunch at the falls. It is an absolute area of natural beauty from start to finish. (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner)

Day 7

Zipline and drive south (Palmar hotel)

Today we will make our way south and enjoy a great zipline with amazing views of the Pacific Ocean. We will be on a mountain ridge very close to the Pacific coast. We will zip from tree-top to tree-top. The area is beautiful and we will even rappel down some trees. After the zip we will drive south a bit to stay in the Palmar area. (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner)

Day 8

Visit former United Fruit Company Plantation (Palmar hotel or stay in plantation)

Today we will go over the history of the United Fruit Company and get a feel for working on a plantation. We will offer our services in the community in the morning and in the afternoon we will play with the locals and try our skill at a soccer game. We have the option of staying in the plantation or going back to the hotel. (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner)

Day 9

Visit Cano Island (Sierpe hotel)

Today we will make the short drive to the Sierpe area where we will take a boat ride through Central America’s largest mangroves. After the mangroves we’ll head out into the ocean for a 45 minute ride to the famous Cano Island. This is an island with lots of history and some incredible snorkeling opportunities. We can snorkel during the trip and see some great coral reefs and numerous varieties of fish. After the visit to the Island we will return to the hotel in Sierpe. (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner)

Day 10

Visit Corcovado National Park

Today we will take another boat ride but we will be heading in the other direction towards the most bio-diverse place on the planet. This is absolute a wildlife paradise and just filled with flora and fauna from start to finish. The beaches are amazing and it is all a national park. We will take a hike through the park and learn about the its natural history. After the hike we will drive to a hotel half way to San Jose. (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner)

Day 11

Fly Home!!!! (Meals: Breakfast)
