Costa Rica Teen TravelCosta Rican Resource is a teen travel company and our goal is to reunite kids with nature in safe and adventurous environments through educational tours. Who we are?School trips to Costa Rica can be a week long of adventure travel mixed with educational travel. This is why CRR specializes in designing trips with the teacher's input. We want our trips to enhance the class's curriculum. We specialize in such areas as ecology, environmental sciences, different cultures and Spanish. Ourcompany known as CRR, has operated student trips for over 11 years in Costa Rica. Our trips are geared towards adventure, education, community service, cultural experiences, and fun-filled days in Costa Rica. CRR also offers teen summer programs, like our L.E.A.D. teen adventure leadership program and summer camps for learning to become an adventure tour guide. What we plan to change? We feel that getting kids out into nature could help prevent problems they might have in the future,as they learn to view the world from a new perspective. Our standards include teaching kids during their educational tour about some of the different environmental issues that face the tropics and the world. Our cure for this is supporting movements like "No Child Left Inside". The fact that kids these days can identify 1,000 brand names of "things" yet when it comes to naming three native species of plants in their area, they often have difficulty. The idea of strengthening the youth's ecoliteracy should be at the forefront of education. We feel youth travel can help make a difference in the future of preserving this world for future generations and not just "using it up". How we plan to do it?

The stats are out that today's youth are getting more screen time than ever before which is ultimately resulting in a non-clinical term coined by Richard Louv in his book Last Child in the Woods, called "Nature Deficit Disorder". The Nature Deficit Disorder is the result of kids being detached from the natural world. Many of the symptoms of this detachment according to studies at the University of California are, childhood obesity, no respect or understanding for natural surroundings, and attention disorders. There continues to be on-going studies about this new phenomenon.
We also consider ourselves experts inmany fields as our staff is made of some of Costa Rica's top river guides, naturalist guides, and educators. We get kids excited about natureby showing them what nature knows that we do not know and what nature can do that man has trouble doing, making it a lesson through biomimicry (learning from nature not just about nature). The kids learn to respect nature once they begin to see the the many inventions and genius ideas that are found in the natural world. All of this makes for a solid foundation in learning for the coming generations of living in a more sustainable manner.
