One of the reasons Costa Rica has become so popular in the last decade is the Pacific Coast. It has changed quite a bit to say the least and it is even now called by some the Gold Coast because of all the foreign investment and real estate transactions that have happened in recent years. In our personal opinion, everyone took a hit from the financial crisis but the environment and development on the Pacific Coast will benefit greatly from things slowing down a bit. The Pacific Coast is made up of many different types of beaches from the northern part which is all dry forest to the south where you will experience much more rain. You have parts of the Pacific where the mountain will meet the sea such as in Dominical and other parts where it is a bit more flat near the coast like in the Guancaste area. The Pacific Coast is home to some of the most precious protected areas in not only all the country but in the entire planet. One is the Corcovado National Park which is the most bio-diverse place on the planet for it’s size. Traveling to and around the Pacific Coast can be done in domestic flights as there are airstrips up and down the coastline. The flights are operated by two companies called Nature Air and Sansa and they have excellent safety records. We also work with a charter company if you are looking for private flights we can set up a number of different flights on a private plane. This company is called Aerobel and also has a perfect safety record. Then there is a paved road which is called the “costanera” which will get you from Nicaragua all the way down to Panama. The most developed part of the Pacific Coast at the present moment is probably the Tamarindo area in Guanacaste and Jaco area in the Central Pacific. You can spend pages and pages describing the Pacific Coast so we split it up into sections to make it easy for you. Just click on one of the areas of the Pacific Coast to learn a little bit more about it: Osa Peninsula, Golfito, National Park Marino Ballena, Dominical, Hacienda Baru, Quepos, Hermosa, Jaco, Herradura, Tarcoles, Puntarenas, Nicoya Peninsula, Santa Rosa National Park |
